Patient using Invisalign clear aligner in Lansing, IL

Clear aligners improve the efficiency and look of orthodontic treatment, allowing patients to achieve the beautifully aligned smile they've always wanted in comfort, style, and speed – all without the negative qualities of traditional metal braces.

Lansing, IL patients who are interested in straightening their teeth can choose from two of the most popular clear aligner options: Invisalign and MTM aligners.

The Advantages of Clear Aligners

MTM Clear Aligners

MTM means minor tooth movement, which is a straightforward description of how this orthodontic process works. Patients with mild to moderate smile flaws can enjoy an attractive and more symmetrical smile through MTM aligners.

MTM aligners tend to be more cost-effective than traditional braces while less noticeable.

Invisalign Clear Aligners

Invisalign is one of the best known clear aligners with a high record of success. Patients with mild to severe smile flaws can benefit from the movement of Invisalign without needing metal braces.

The main difference between MTM aligners and Invisalign is the treatment time, which tends to be quicker with MTM, although actual treatment time varies on a case-by-case basis. MTM tends to focus on the six upper and six lower teeth that are most visible instead of all your teeth and your dental bite.

How Do Clear Aligners Work?

Most clear aligners follow a similar process. Each aligner is custom-fitted to fit over a patient's smile and gently shift teeth into better alignment. For this to work, aligners must be worn for at least 22 hours every day. Patients can remove aligners before meals, when out for an evening, before brushing and flossing, or for a photo before putting the aligners back.
